The Metro is loud. I tried meditating but found that I was not enlightened enough to cut out the background noise of the hustle and bustle of cars and people. I had an epiphany, what if I used big studio cup style headphones with a meditation app that has soothing sounds to help me relax and focus? I tried a few apps but found them lacking in both sound quality and sound variety.
Having had built both native apps and games in Unity 3D I’ve always been interested in building cross-platform apps using Unity 3D but never had an opportunity that made sense. This was that opportunity. The light bulbs starting flashing…what if I created a meditation app in Unity 3D that uses high quality 3D sounds so that when the player or camera changes position the sounds composition changes? This would make for an infinite possible sound variation and allow the user to control the experience more. Also having a beautiful rendered peaceful 3D environment could help ease the candidate into a relaxed state prior to starting the mediation.
The app will be free to download and include a complementary 3D island environment. I will make other environments available for $1.99. I won’t allow advertisements due to the nature of the app.
This is the first in a multiple chapter blog (with accompanying videos) where I will chronicle the development process from inception to release including profits. I hope you find it useful in some manner to help you on your journey. Check back soon for the blog and video where I pick my environment assets and test them out on a mobile device.
